Bird-Brained

Don't you just love Spring? If you were to walk into my casa at this very moment, you would be witness to many a bird. No, not those in flight, but any and all in the "home decor" department that you can imagine...and most have permanent homes here in our abode. I just love the freedom and charm they represent and bring into a place.
My chipboard/scrapbook paper birds rest sweetly on knobs throughout the house, and I've been known to go on a crafting spree and end up toting the lot along with me, distributing them to loved ones! They work so well as ornaments, knob sweets, cards, tags, the possibilities are endless! Also in my collection is a bird bowl almost identical to the one below - I found it in a thrift store (imagine that), gave it a nice coat of matte black spray paint, and it rests comfortably among the frames and things in the living room. The black had me wondering, but I love the contrast of dark color with something so light and airy. It holds pinecones a student gifted me from his backyard (SO sweet!)
The newest addition to the birdy-party comes from my great grandmother Ezzell. She cranked out dozens of these handmade birds, and used them on Christmas trees, and gave away as precious gifts, but my 3 creamy white birds rest atop the bird bowl, my mantel, and one red in a canister with a mini-bird's nest. Eye candy, for sure. Aren't they the most adorable creatures?

Enough of my bird-brained ideas - I'll continue to collect them until some unsuspecting neighbor/family member/friend falls prey to another Spring Cleaning blitz, but at the rate I'm going, I may just surround myself with these little reminders of our beautiful planet. Be well!

When you kill a cow...

Last night I had the pleasure of hitting the town with some fabulous ladies. After an hilarious game of "Taboo" (and one round of our own designed rules), we headed out to dance our bon-bons to fun music, and enjoy a ladies night. We ended up at a small little place near the college (and our house) where they were hosting a Lady Gaga costume/birthday party. I cannot relay to you the amount of squealing I wanted to do when a 7 ft Gaga passed by, or the sea of cigarrette glasses and bow-hair combonations I was totally jealous of!

By the end of the night, I (filled with much liquid confidence and surrounded by engergetic, fun folks) was dancing like I haven't in a long while. Wish the Mr. could have been there, but he was feeling kind of "chill" last night and lounged with the Bro. at his apartment with some cold ones and a "macho" movie. I'm actually happy it morphed into ladies night - Gaga might not have had the same effect otherwise. Happy Sunday!
